Thanks, Jimmie!

Thanks, Jimmie!

When I was pregnant with R, Jloved to snack on pretzels. I distinctly remember lying on the couch and she came up to me and breathed her pretzel breath right into my face, “Mommmmy…” And I hurled myself off the couch and, well, ran to the bathroom and hurled. I never wanted a pretzel again.

Today The Mayor and I spent the day Christmas shopping. We went and explored several cities near Flint, had an amazing lunch at The Grafted Root (turkey, Brie, avocado, cherry jam sandwich) and had an amazing day just enjoying our adventures together. At one place they had vintage candy bars and we picked up a pair of Jimmie Stix. Even though it said pretzel peanut butter and chocolate, I was feeling like a fresh start and thought I’d give one a try.

Fast forward to tonight’s dessert. I tear into the package excited but a bit trepidatious. The first bite of the crunch and then salt and then bread of the pretzel, and then chocolate. What have I been missing? It tasted like an angel herself put this in my path so that I could be reintroduced to one of the most amazing things this world has to offer. After 21 years, the curse has been broken!! Alleluia.
